Aftercare
The artist will bandage your tattoo before you leave.
Unless otherwise instructed, like when using a Saniderm type bandage, DO NOT REBANDAGE the tattoo.
You can leave the bandage on for up to 3 hours.
When you take the bandage off wash the tattoo with an Unscented soap - Dr.Bronner's Hemp Mild is great!
Under warm running water move your fingers over the tattoo until you feel the slimy layer go away. Pat or air dry.
A single use paper towel is ideal. If using a hand towel chose a clean one that no one else will use.
Wash the tattoo a few times before bed the first night.
Wash the tattoo first thing in the morning and after it is dry apply a thin layer of a unscented, white, water based lotion on it.
You want to use as little as possible to keep the scabbing moist over the next 2 weeks. Lubriderm or Curel Unscented are easiest to find.
Water should be the first ingredient.
It will probably take 5-14 days to completely heal.
If you have tough to heal/irritated spots on the tattoo you can use POLYSPORIN NOT NEOSPORIN on those spots.
No soaking, swimming, tanning or sunscreen until the tattoo is healed.
Saniderm Aftercare
Remove the breathable bandage your artist has applied 24 hrs after your appointment.
It will be filled with fluid, which is normal.
Removing it in the shower can be the easiest way to do it.
Wash the tattoo with an unscented soap. Pat or let it air dry.
You can then apply a second bandage that will stay on 5-7 days.
If not reapplying follow the instructions above.
